Take care of your tattoo, and it will last a life time…
First 24 Hours
Your tattoo will be covered with a protective dressing.
• Leave the covering on for the time advised by your artist (usually a few hours).
• Once removed, gently wash the tattoo with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap.
• Pat dry with clean paper towel — do not rub the area.
• Apply a very thin layer of recommended aftercare cream.
Healing Process
As your tattoo heals it may become dry, itchy, or begin to lightly peel. This is completely normal.
• Do not scratch or pick at the tattoo.
• Continue cleaning and moisturising regularly.
• Let any flaking skin fall away naturally.
Most tattoos take 2–3 weeks to heal on the surface, though deeper layers of skin will continue healing for several weeks.
Long-Term Care
Once your tattoo is fully healed:
• Keep the skin moisturised
• Protect the tattoo from sun exposure
• Use high SPF sunscreen when the tattoo is exposed to sunlight
Taking care of your skin will keep your tattoo looking sharp for years to come.
The First Week
During the first few days your tattoo may feel warm, slightly swollen, or tender. This is normal.
• Wash the tattoo gently 2–3 times per day.
• Apply a thin layer of aftercare cream after cleaning.
• Wear loose, clean clothing to avoid irritation.
• Avoid touching the tattoo unnecessarily.
Avoid During Healing
While your tattoo heals, avoid:
• Swimming pools, hot tubs, lakes, or the sea
• Long baths (showers are fine)
• Direct sun exposure
• Saunas and steam rooms
• Tight or abrasive clothing over the tattoo
These can cause irritation or increase the risk of infection.
If You Have Concerns
If your tattoo becomes excessively swollen, very painful, or shows signs of infection, please contact the studio or seek medical advice.
We’re always happy to help if you have questions during the healing process.
